Implants are an increasingly popular way to replace one or more missing teeth as they feel more natural than bridges and dentures. An implant consists of a titanium fixture (similar to a screw), which is surgically placed in the jawbone in order to replace the root of a missing tooth. Once the implant fixture has integrated with the bone, a crown can be attached to it, resulting in a single tooth replacement. Implants can also be used to replace multiple missing teeth or to attach to and support bridges and dentures.
